I SAID IN MY HEART, by
First Line: I said in my heart, I am one with running water
Last Line: Things as untamed as these, derisive of time and space?
Subject(s): Hearts; Rain; Time

I said in my heart, "I am one with running water,
With flowing wind and the silver-fluting rain;
With a sister-tree of the wood I am earth's glad daughter
And one with the flowering land and the growing grain."

I said, "I am one with these;" but the wind was going
Over the greening fields with its wild sweet tune
Sung since the dawn of spring; and the brook was flowing
Over mysterious stones, intoning its ancient rune.

How should I follow, being of mortal banding?
Here they left me alone, with wild tears on my face.
How can an earthly heart be speedy in understanding
Things as untamed as these, derisive of time and space?
