BRAVE RETREATS, by

Give me a land of brave retreats
Where rugged hills surround,
And let me roam the haunted beats
O happy hunting ground.

Give me a life-supporting stream,
A cabin by its side;
Then let me hunt and fish and dream,
Forgetting time and tide.

Give me the tang of woodland breeze
To kiss my weathered cheek,
And let me search among the trees
The happiness I seek.
