By day, --
A ruffled expanse of transparent coolness:
Pierced by the bright swords of the day,
The rays of an unmerciful sun.
And disturbed, like the turbulent breasts
Of a woman awaiting the one she loves.

By night, --
A shining mirror, a mirage of silver:
Held motionless by a shower
Of soft moonbeams and unseen stardust.
And quiet, like the heart of a woman
Consumed by an irresistible passion.
