ADVENTURE, by WILLIAM A. PHELON First Line: It's not so much adventure in itself Last Line: If winning makes our days grow dull and stale! Subject(s): Adventure And Adventurers | |||
IT'S not so much Adventure in itself That lures us onward and compels our will, It's not so much the actual, glowing deed It is the thrill of seeking for The Thrill! The actual achievement, when it comes, May disappoint usmay not prove as great As we had hopedbut, oh, the pulsing dreams That paint our visions while we hunt and wait! And so, by land and wave, we seek our quest, Perhaps to winperhaps, at last, to fail And, sometimes, we are happier if we lose, If winning makes our days grow dull and stale! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ADVENTURERS by ISABEL ECCLESTONE MACKAY MARGUERITE DE ROBERVAL by ISABEL ECCLESTONE MACKAY THE PASSING OF CADIEUX by ISABEL ECCLESTONE MACKAY WHEN AS A LAD by ISABEL ECCLESTONE MACKAY WHITE NIGHT by BYRDIE L.
