HOW SINGULAR!, by WILLIAM A. PHELON First Line: You cant's play football with a golfing stick-- Last Line: How curious is their way! Subject(s): Humorists; Sports | |||
YOU cant's play football with a golfing stick Now isn't that absurd? You can't play tennis with a catcher's mitt Well, now, upon my word! No swimmers swim in baseball suits, And jockeys don't wear diving boots, At least, that's what we've heard! No quarterback wears brown polo pants So many people say The horseshoe pitchers don't use catchers' masks That wouldn't fit their play! The champion boxers don't swing baseball bats, The wrestlers do not strive in new silk hats How curious is their way! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPORT STORY OF A WINNER by GLYN MAXWELL WOMAN SKATING by MARGARET ATWOOD FISHING IN WINTER by RALPH BURNS CAPPER KAPLINSKI AT THE NORTH SIDE CUE CLUB by HAYDEN CARRUTH JACKIE ROBINSON by LUCILLE CLIFTON |
