DELOS, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: Delian apollo, save!
Last Line: And the glorious paeans ring.
Subject(s): Delos (island), Greece

DELIAN Apollo, save!
Scattered islets breeding sheep
Were their portion, and they keep
Delos, which Apollo gave,
Master golden-haired, that they
On Asteria might stay.

Delian Apollo, hail!
Leto's Children, welcome me,
Your attendant, graciously.
Loudly let my song prevail,
While the honeyed voices sing
And the glorious paeans ring.
