SHORELINES, by MAUDE PLESSINGER First Line: I know a place where sycamores Last Line: That follow where the shoreline goes. Subject(s): Rivers | ||||||||
I know a place where sycamores Follow a river's rugged shores, And horseweeds march in thick formation As becomes their rank and station, And the sturdy black-eyed-susan Rears its head in great profusion. Willows stand on the banks and weep Over the water, cool and deep. Sleek cattle come to splash and wade, And quench their thirst in noontime shade. And there are prints of little toes That follow where the shoreline goes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RIVERS INTO SEAS by LYNDA HULL TO A WOMAN GLANCING UP FROM THE RIVER by LARRY LEVIS TWO-RIVER LEDGER by KHALED MATTAWA HE FINDS THE MANSION by JAMES MCMICHAEL THE RIVERS by CLARIBEL ALEGRIA VERMILION FLYCATCHER, SAN PEDRO RIVER, ARIZONA by MARGARET ATWOOD THE PORCH OVER THE RIVER by WENDELL BERRY THE RIVER BRIDGED AND FORGOT by WENDELL BERRY |
