THE ELVES OF WINTER, by HARRIET SEYMOUR POPOWSKI First Line: In each ferny, frost-flower tree Last Line: Toss back sparkles elf-men chase! Subject(s): Fairies; Winter; Elves | ||||||||
In each ferny, frost-flower tree See the elf-men romp in glee! All about the house-top tall, Dancing, flashing, they play ball. Catching twinkles, tossing gleams To the roguish sun's gay beams. Stones and fences all are toys Elves have made for girls and boys. Shining at the icy panes All along the snowy lanes, Joyous eyes in each glad face Toss back sparkles elf-men chase! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FAERY FOREST by SARA TEASDALE THE LAND OF HEART'S DESIRE by WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS THE FAIRIES by WILLIAM ALLINGHAM THE FAIRY CHILD by JOHN ANSTER THE FORSAKEN MERMAN by MATTHEW ARNOLD THE LITTLE ELF-MAN by JOHN KENDRICK BANGS TAM O' SHANTER by ROBERT BURNS A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 19.
