Subject(s): Hotels; Memory; Moon; Spring; Inns; Innskeepers; Motels; Boarding Houses

I remember a little inn
Far out from town,
And the peace of a country evening
Settling down.

I remember a round-cheeked moon
Like a jolly host,
And a white-plumed pear tree, turning
To a lovely ghost.

I remember a log was thrown
On the slumbering fire
And the shadows fled to the corners
As the flames leaped higher.

I remember the silver gleamed
In the candle light
And the world was very far away
That sweet spring night.

If I return to the little inn,
Shall I find you there,
Waiting before the fireplace
In that deep old chair?

Will you join me at the table
We liked the most,
Or shall I find at the little inn
Only Beauty's ghost?
