HOLLYHOCKS, by EDNA DEAN PROCTOR Poet's Biography First Line: O the stately hollyhocks Last Line: Their words in the dusk to me. Alternate Author Name(s): Dean Subject(s): Hollyhocks; Nature | ||||||||
O THE stately Hollyhocks Flowering up the stalk Crimson, rose and creamy white Blazoning the walk Soft with sighs, on summer eves I have heard them talk! But what they said in the balmy hush Not a leaf astir on the tree I shall never tell lest the stars should fall And the sun drown in the sea! So sweet, so high, so wonderful Their words in the dusk to me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN LET US GATHER IN A FLOURISHING WAY by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA IN MICHAEL ROBINS?ÇÖS CLASS MINUS ONE by HICOK.
