THE WINDS OF GOD, by EDNA DEAN PROCTOR Poet's Biography First Line: The winds of god are blowing Last Line: His tides are surging in. Alternate Author Name(s): Dean Subject(s): God; Wind | ||||||||
THE Winds of God are blowing, His tides are surging in, A song triumphal, holy, Above the battle's din When love shall reign and brutal power No longer blight and slay, For the Winds of God are blowing. His tides roll in to-day! O Earth, with strife and anguish rent, The Winds of God are out, And all the hosts of tyranny Shall yet be put to rout! A nobler age is coming on When hate and greed and crime Shall pass, as passed the loathly broods Of primal swamp and slime; When fairest forms the earth shall grace, High aims the heart shall swell, And the lilies of heaven bloom where now Are the poison growths of hell! By Life and Death, we will not swerve Till earth's great years begin! For the Winds of God are blowing, His tides are surging in. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE WIND by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN LEAF LITTER ON ROCK FACE by HEATHER MCHUGH RESIDENTIAL AREA by JOSEPHINE MILES THE DAY THE WINDS by JOSEPHINE MILES VARIATIONS: 12 by CONRAD AIKEN OH IT'S PRETTY WINDY OUTSIDE by LARRY EIGNER COLUMBUS DYING [MAY 20, 1506] by EDNA DEAN PROCTOR SA-CA-GA-WE-A; THE INDIAN GIRL WHO GUIDED LEWIS AND CLARK by EDNA DEAN PROCTOR |
