A LITTLE BIT OF HOME, by KATHERINE J. BALL PUTNEY First Line: When last to home I took some flowers Last Line: We're a little bit of home. Subject(s): Flowers; Home; Solitude; Loneliness | ||||||||
When last to home I took some flowers, They seemed so dear and gay, Thinking that in a lonely hour They'd pass the time away. Dear lovely flowers that bloom so fair When I am all alone, They seem to be a messenger, A little bit of home. They seem to say we're here to stay, To cheer your path we'll try; Though dark and dreary be the day, 'Twill brighten bye and bye. There's one who heeds the smallest flowers That's with you when alone, And some glad message we will bring, We're a little bit of home. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IN ABEYANCE by DENISE LEVERTOV IN A VACANT HOUSE by PHILIP LEVINE SUNDAY ALONE IN A FIFTH FLOOR APARTMENT, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS by WILLIAM MATTHEWS SILENCE LIKE COOL SAND by PAT MORA THE HONEY BEAR by EILEEN MYLES THE AWAKENING by EDGAR LEE MASTERS FOR A' THAT AND A' THAT; SONG by ROBERT BURNS SONNET TO MASTER GABRIELL HARVEY, DOCTOR OF LAWES by EDMUND SPENSER |
