First Line: The fervid heat is ebbing toward the finish of the day
Last Line: While blissful hope assures us the coming of the dawn.
Subject(s): Nature; Night; Bedtime

The fervid heat is ebbing toward the finish of the day,
The festive songs of bird life have slowly died away,
The little woodland creatures come out to court the breeze,
The gentle evening zephyrs are whispering through the trees,
The cattle in the pasture are heading toward the stall,
The hush of evening quiet is hovering over all,
The sun in blood-red glory is sinking in the west,
The moon, in sweet effulgence, seems anchored and at rest.
Invisible forms are lighting heaven's candles, twinkling bright,
An unseen hand is drawing the curtain of the night.
Relentless power is urging the darkness hasting on,
While blissful hope assures us the coming of the dawn.
