FLYING HOME, by MAUDE S. REA First Line: When you go flying, flying o'er the sea Last Line: My joyous heart is flying back with you. Subject(s): Flight; Home; Flying | ||||||||
When you go flying, flying o'er the sea With wings outstretched, I watch you out of sight And pray that swift and sure may be your flight. Safe your return: that I shall live to see That gladsome day for happy it will be, At rosy dawn or soft descending night, When storm clouds roll or at the noon day night, When you come flying, flying home to me. When you went flying, flying o'er the foam With silver wings outstretched then lost to view My lonely heart flew with you far to roam, The sunrise lost its gold the sky its blue. Now that your message to the world is "home," My joyous heart is flying back with you. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SOMETHING CHILDISH, BUT VERY NATURAL; WRITTEN IN GERMANY by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE NIGHT SONG OF THE PERSONAL SHADOW by GYORGY PETRI THE HAWAIIAN FLIGHT SQUADRON by CHARLOTTE LOUISE BERTLESEN INSPIRATION by GRACE HOLBROOK BLOOD MONHEGAN GULLS by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON THE CRESCENT MOON by AMY LOWELL A DECANTER OF MADEIRA, AGED 86, TO GEORGE BANCROFT, AGED 86 by SILAS WEIR MITCHELL |
