HOPE, by CAROLYN RENFREW First Line: I am the sun within whose warmth and light Last Line: And with my rainbows bridge the gulf of death. Subject(s): Hope; Optimism | ||||||||
I am the sun within whose warmth and light The soul expands, spreads forth its wings and soars. Without me there would be no winging flight, No sailing forth to other beckoning shores; And, yea, I am the very life of life, Though none would name me with such sovereignty. Should aught divorce me from this teeming strife, Life would become but its own travesty. I am the best of all that yet may be; The torch by which to climb to each new height, The balm, the ministry of suffering, The sun by day, the moon and stars by night; With dazzling lure I wait on being's breath, And with my rainbows bridge the gulf of death. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SONNET: 9.
