A temple bell! --
And lo, to me,
Who fare far out to sea,
It brings the gloom
Of the temple room --
And the holy image
Of Buddha seated
Upon his lotus!

And so I pray:
'O Calm One! in
The new lives that I win
Let me as the sound
Of a bell be found
To waken worship
In souls that wander
Toward Nirvana!'
