MY GARDEN GIRL, by
First Line: My garden girl with sunburned nose
Last Line: My garden girl.
Subject(s): Beauty; Flowers; Gardens & Gardening; Hearts; Love - Complaints; Relationships

My garden girl with sunburned nose,
Tip-tilted like a cameo's
Rules like a queen, with grace to spare,
Among her kind, dispensing care
On columbine and budding rose.

Oh, tell me, summer, why she shows
Such tenderness for all that grows,
Yet is unmoved by man's despair,
My garden girl.

Demure is she, yet I suppose
That quite designedly she knows
The garden were not half so fair
Unless her flowering self were there;
For beauty doubles bloom where goes
My garden girl.
