MEMORIAL IN FLAME, by FLORA SHUFELT RIVOLA First Line: If I might write of you in flame Last Line: From lost days, in an old gray sack. Subject(s): Heat | ||||||||
If I might write of you in flame So men might warm cold hands Before the grate your love had lit! But, dear, my thought now stands Beside the table where we two Shared heaven, alone, chilled through. I may not capture you, indeed, For others nor for me, Yet in such pine cones as you brought To fill our grate I see A glowing heart of flame, brought back, From lost days, in an old gray sack. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PHILOSOPHY IN WARM WEATHER by JANE KENYON FRAGMENTS WRITTEN WHILE TRAVELING...A MIDWESTERN HEAT WAVE by JAMES GALVIN HOW PALESTINIANS KEEP WARM by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE DESERT PARABLE by ELEANOR WILNER HIGH NOON AT LOS ALAMOS by ELEANOR WILNER A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING FOR THE SOUL OF AN ECCENTRIC MAN by FLORA SHUFELT RIVOLA |
