NIGHT IN CAMP, by SARAH SPENCER ROE First Line: Sparks ascending from the fire Last Line: Presently to die. Subject(s): Camping; Fire; Fireplaces; Forests; Wood; Camps; Summer Camps; Woods | ||||||||
Sparks ascending from the fire Vanish among the trees As in upward whirls they fly Lifted by the breeze. Clear and soft the bugle sounds Over the forest camp, Touching notes in many a heart, Leaving eyelids damp. Silence nestles round the wood; Vega glows on high; Logs in whitening ashes part Presently to die. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PRINCESS WAKES IN THE WOOD by RANDALL JARRELL CHAMBER MUSIC: 20 by JAMES JOYCE ADVICE TO A FOREST by MAXWELL BODENHEIM A SOUTH CAROLINA FOREST by AMY LOWELL JOY IN THE WOODS by CLAUDE MCKAY IN BLACKWATER WOODS by MARY OLIVER THE PLACE I WANT TO GET BACK TO by MARY OLIVER VAGABOND ARTIST by SARAH SPENCER ROE |
