STAY yet awhile and watch the shadows lengthen Across the paths. The whispering voices strengthen Above us in the poplars where the light Of ageing afternoon breaks through less bright To blur the purple sun-line on the dial. Stay yet awhile. Perhaps we missed her where the roses screen Her favorite walk between the oaks that lean To form an arbor for her passing there, But she will come and make the spot more fair With all her peaceful beauty and her smile. Stay yet awhile. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE EVENING OF THE MIND by DONALD JUSTICE CHRISTMAS AWAY FROM HOME by JANE KENYON THE PROBLEM by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES WHEN A WOMAN LOVES A MAN by DAVID LEHMAN THIS UNMENTIONABLE FEELING by DAVID LEHMAN THE ROSARY by ROBERT CAMERON ROGERS A HEALTH AT THE FORD by ROBERT CAMERON ROGERS A OUTRANCE (FRANCE, SEVENTEENTH CENTURY) by ROBERT CAMERON ROGERS |
