A CASTLE-BUILDER'S WORLD, by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Unripe harvest there hath none to reap it Last Line: Shades of bodies without souls. Alternate Author Name(s): Alleyne, Ellen; Rossetti, Christina Subject(s): Soul; Emptiness; Desolation | ||||||||
The line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness. UNRIPE harvest there hath none to reap it From the misty gusty place, Unripe vineyard there hath none to keep it In unprofitable space. Living men and women are not found there Only masks in flocks and shoals; Flesh - and - bloodless hazy masks surround there Ever wavering orbs and poles; Flesh - and - bloodless vapid masks abound there, Shades of bodies without souls. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FACING INTO IT; FOR LARRY LEVIS by ELEANOR WILNER AT DAYBREAK by ADAM ZAGAJEWSKI REMEMBRANCE by EMILY JANE BRONTE THE HOUSE ON THE HILL by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON IL PLEUT DOUCEMENT SUR LA VILLE by PAUL VERLAINE DOOMSDAY by THOMAS LOVELL BEDDOES DEAD JOYS by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT IT IS FINISHED' by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI ITALIA, IO TI SALUTO!' by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI THE HEART KNOWETH ITS OWN BITTERNESS' (2) by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI |
