AMEN, by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: It is over. What is over Last Line: And my garden teem with spices. Alternate Author Name(s): Alleyne, Ellen; Rossetti, Christina Subject(s): Harvest; Wheat; Death | ||||||||
It is over. What is over? Nay, now much is over truly!- Harvest days we toiled to sow for; Now the sheaves are gathered newly, Now the wheat is garned duly. It is finished. What is finished? Much is finished known or unknown: Lives are finished; time diminished; Was the fallow field left unsown? Will these buds be always unblown? It suffices. What suffices? All suffices reckoned rightly: Spring shall bloom where now the ice is, Roses make the bramble slightly, And the quickening sun shine brightly, And the latter wind blow lightly, And my garden teem with spices. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A FRIEND KILLED IN THE WAR by ANTHONY HECHT FOR JAMES MERRILL: AN ADIEU by ANTHONY HECHT TARANTULA: OR THE DANCE OF DEATH by ANTHONY HECHT CHAMPS D?ÇÖHONNEUR by ERNEST HEMINGWAY HOW THE MIRROR LOOKS THIS MORNING by HICOK.
