LORD, IT IS GOOD FOR US TO BE HERE, by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Grant us, o lord, that patience and that faith Last Line: God's will, but saith, good is it to be here. Alternate Author Name(s): Alleyne, Ellen; Rossetti, Christina | ||||||||
GRANT us, O Lord, that patience and that faith: Faith's patience imperturbable in Thee, Hope's patience till the long-drawn shadows flee, Love's patience unresentful of all scathe. Verily we need patience breath by breath; Patience while Faith holds up her glass to see, While Hope toils yoked in Fear's copartnery, And Love goes softly on the way to death. How gracious and how perfecting a grace Must Patience be on which those others wait: Faith with suspended rapture in her face, Hope pale and careful hand in hand with Fear, Love -- ah good Love who would not antedate God's Will, but saith, Good is it to be here. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ITALIA, IO TI SALUTO!' by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI THE HEART KNOWETH ITS OWN BITTERNESS' (2) by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A BED OF FORGET-ME-NOTS by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A BETTER RESURRECTION by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A BIRTHDAY by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1) by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A CHRISTMAS CAROL (2) by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A DIRGE by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A LIFE'S PARALLELS by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A PAUSE by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI |
