PANSY, by LENA LULL RUMRILL First Line: I walked into my garden Last Line: "to come up through the ground." Subject(s): Gardens & Gardening; Pansies; Spring | |||
I walked into my garden -- The day was cold and raw; There I found a pansy face Just peeping through the straw. I knelt to touch its petals So delicate of hue; My dear, I said, why didn't you wait Till the grass was wet with dew? What made you venture out In this garden bleak and drear? Bless your little petal face, Warm days are far from here. And then I thought it murmured, Although there was no sound, "The sunshine warm just tempted me To come up through the ground." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD BY THE POTOMAC by THOMAS BAILEY ALDRICH |
