FOR HELEN KELLER, by
First Line: More lovely than the face
Last Line: Her torch than all your metal statues.
Subject(s): Hearts; Keller, Helen (1880-1968)

More lovely than the face
That launched a thousand ships
Is this other Helen's heart,
Lighting the lands where dusty hours
Slow would creep, and hands
Lie fallow through the barren day,
But for the living Helen who
Makes glow the eyes of morning,
Lifts the head, and higher holds
Her torch than all your metal statues.
