SUNNY DAYS, by WILLIAM JACOB SANDS First Line: The sun of summer brings his comfort rare Last Line: Betty and ecstasy without alloy. Subject(s): Summer | ||||||||
The sun of summer brings his comfort rare; The harvest ripens 'neath his genial glow; In fruit of orchards sweetest nectars flow; The healing balm of heaven is in the air. What rich perfume the gentle breezes bear! How tranquil glides the sail on summer sea! How graceful soar the terns so wild and free! Majestical the clouds -- beyond compare! As is the sun to harvest, flower, and tree, Bringer of fullness, happiness, relief, Angel of cheer, with myrrh for every grief, Bearer of freedom -- Betty is to me. Summer means warmth and rest and love and joy -- Betty and ecstasy without alloy. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE ADVANCE OF SUMMER by MARY KINZIE THE SUMMER IMAGE by LEONIE ADAMS CANOEBIAL BLISS by JOSEPH ASHBY-STERRY THE END OF SUMMER by HENRY MEADE BLAND THE FARMER'S BOY: SUMMER by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD SONNET: 14.
