BIRTHDAY THOUGHTS, by MABEL CELIA SAUNDERS First Line: It is sad today / and the winds blow wild Last Line: I'll always be young. Subject(s): Wind; Youth | ||||||||
It is sad today, And the winds blow wild, As they blew ago When I was a child. I played with the winds And the winds were gay. They made wild laughter To liven the day. They will blow wild gusts And ever be so -- They're Freedom itself; I am free, I know. The winds will sing songs -- The best is unsung; Who loves the wild wind Will fore'er be young. I love the wild wind And its lashing tongue -- I am young today, I'll always be young. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BETWEEN THE WARS by ROBERT HASS THE GOLDEN SHOVEL by TERRANCE HAYES ALONG WITH YOUTH by ERNEST HEMINGWAY THE BLACK RIVIERA by MARK JARMAN BUCOLIC COMEDY: FLEECING TIME by EDITH SITWELL |
