When songsters were carolling matins betimes, And the South-wind came whispering hope and cheer To the naked trees and shivering shrubs And to plump little seeds fain bursting to grow, I walked in my garden exploring, expectant, In quest of the ever-eternal green; And Lo! I found the lush earth palpitant In Life's recurring miracle; From transitory death and murkiness Of lingering Winter's frost-bound nether-world Had come once more the glorious resurrection Of the spring. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE A BLACK HILLS IDYL by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN |
