THE BLESSED RAIN, by JENNIE SCHMITZ First Line: The rain, sweet balm to nature Last Line: For all the blessed rain. Subject(s): Rain | ||||||||
The rain, sweet balm to nature, Is falling, falling fast; It washed away the banks of snow, And now the winter's past. The spring invites her flowers out, The grass is green again; But how, I ask, could all this be Without the blessed rain? We hear a song of gladness, Sometimes a song of pain, And oft a little sadness comes With the falling rain. But nature hears a wakening call, She lifts her head again, And with her beauty thanks the Lord For all the blessed rain. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DISTANT RAINFALL by ROBINSON JEFFERS CHAMBER MUSIC: 32 by JAMES JOYCE HEAVY SUMMER RAIN by JANE KENYON CROWD CORRALLING by MARGARET AVISON THE RAIN-POOL by KARLE WILSON BAKER ON THE GREAT ATLANTIC RAINWAY by KENNETH KOCH SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: TOM MERRITT by EDGAR LEE MASTERS |
