RAIN HAS RETURNED, by ELIZABETH SCOBIE First Line: The rains have returned to the cornlands Last Line: And flag-lilies blossom once more. Subject(s): Rain | ||||||||
The rains have returned to the cornlands; Fields cherish patches of glass Which ripple the colors of sunset Like bright-winging insects that pass. Where ditches at roadsides are filling The waterfowl quietly glide, While willows go wading in pastures And herds are refreshed at their side. Meadowlarks sing above ponds That entangle the clouds with the shore: The rains have returned to the cornlands, And flag-lilies blossom once more. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DISTANT RAINFALL by ROBINSON JEFFERS CHAMBER MUSIC: 32 by JAMES JOYCE HEAVY SUMMER RAIN by JANE KENYON CROWD CORRALLING by MARGARET AVISON THE RAIN-POOL by KARLE WILSON BAKER ON THE GREAT ATLANTIC RAINWAY by KENNETH KOCH NURSE'S SONG, FR.
