HERO-WORSHIP, by
First Line: My star is brighter now than when my eyes
Last Line: But, oh, my star is beautiful tonight!
Subject(s): Hero-worship; Stars

My star is brighter now than when my eyes
First saw and gazed in wonder at the sight;
My star is brighter and I watch it rise,
Lost in its glow, enveloped in its light.
Often, in gazing long, I fail to see
Its distance, and I think my outstretched hand
May reach and bring its beauty down to me;
The only beauty I can understand.
My star is brighter now but I must turn
My eyes to earth and things of lesser light,
I must no longer gaze at it and yearn,
But, oh, my star is beautiful tonight!
