BEETHOVEN, by LUCY H. KING SMITH First Line: A prince of music with a builder's art Last Line: The notes and symphonies he gave. Subject(s): Beethoven, Ludwig Van (1770-1827); Composers; Music & Musicians | ||||||||
A prince of music with a builder's art, A wondrous man of mystery! To life he gave a legacy apart And waked the world to majesty. How rich, how deep his soul's propelling power, As list'ning souls mount to the sky; Prophetic, happy visions fill the hour, Resplendent in a maze they lie. Though lost to him was every sound of earth, From thund'rous force to breathless speech, There lived within a voice of finer worth That knew the cadences of each. Too soon a silence deep o'ershadowed all, But still he dreamed and sang his song, And, trusting trod a lonely hall, In silent solitude grew strong. He's left to earth a legacy sublime, An art that everyone might crave, A boon to ages in the files of time, The notes and symphonies he gave. | Other Poems of Interest...JAZZ STATION by MICHAEL S.
