GOOD FRIDAY, by LUCY H. KING SMITH First Line: Come we unto an altar, kneel, and pray Last Line: Give dreams of thy immortal paradise. Subject(s): Good Friday; Holidays; Holy Week | ||||||||
Come we unto an altar, kneel, and pray, Oft do we try to pierce life's somb'rous way; Come we to claim the heritage of years, Calm aching grief, extenuate our fears. O God, Who sees and knows our every need, Come now to our Gethsemane, we plead. We who have passed within the garden's gate, Know each must bear a burden soon or late; Lift Thou our thought, our hopes beyond Earth's skies Give dreams of Thy immortal Paradise. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...GOOD FRIDAY by LUCILLE CLIFTON GOOD FRIDAY HYMN by GEORGE SANTAYANA GOOD FRIDAY, 1613.
