THE DESERT, by ALICE HANSCHE SORENSON First Line: I see no flowers growing as I pass Last Line: Your deep dark eyes. Subject(s): Deserts; Food & Eating; Solitude; Loneliness | ||||||||
I see no flowers growing as I pass Within this barren land. Though often in the strange vast emptiness I grope To find your hand. I hear no sound of happy bird on wing, Nor dashing waterfall. Though often in the sad deep silences I list To hear your call. And so I wend my solitary way Down paths where laughter dies, Though sometimes still I look in vain To find Your deep dark eyes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IN ABEYANCE by DENISE LEVERTOV IN A VACANT HOUSE by PHILIP LEVINE SUNDAY ALONE IN A FIFTH FLOOR APARTMENT, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS by WILLIAM MATTHEWS SILENCE LIKE COOL SAND by PAT MORA THE HONEY BEAR by EILEEN MYLES CRYSTAL HIGHWAY by ALICE HANSCHE SORENSON |
