NATURE, by LOUISE KIDDER SPARROW First Line: At peace the poppies and the hyacinth bloom Last Line: Till man shall walk with sunlight on his face! Subject(s): Nature | ||||||||
At peace the poppies and the hyacinth bloom While snow still swirls upon the wintry air, The garden shrubs and trees are stark and bare The sun pours warmly in to flood my room. Is it true that half the world is lost in gloom? These radiant flowers give forth a perfume rare; Across the seas they blossom, even where The nations tremble on the brink of doom. Cannot the trees, the greening lawn, the sky, Flecked with white clouds in depths of azure blue, Pour forth a paean to the Power Most High That mercy may be shed on all men do? Informing minds and hearts with Nature's grace, Till man shall walk with sunlight on his face! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN LET US GATHER IN A FLOURISHING WAY by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA IN MICHAEL ROBINS?ÇÖS CLASS MINUS ONE by HICOK.
