GOOD MEASURE, by EDITH LOMBARD SQUIRES First Line: Here is good measure from the changing year Last Line: This resurrection of the soul from earth. | ||||||||
Here is good measure from the changing year, When earth, new-born, is slowly satisfied By spring's deep sowing, summer's golden sphere, Rich autumn reaping, winter's harvest-tide. This perfect measure of time's ebb and flow, A harvest that is earth's unchanging goal -- From winter dark the grains of wheat still grow, And from the bulb's deep heart the flower-soul. Here is good measure from each vanquished peak And from each valley where the sun is hid; Here is a harvest that the heart would seek Beyond the stones of life's vast pyramid. Good measure past all petty penny-worth -- This resurrection of the soul from earth. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOUSE-FREE by EDITH LOMBARD SQUIRES I, WHO AM SOON TO DIE by EDITH LOMBARD SQUIRES THIS DARKNESS by EDITH LOMBARD SQUIRES JANUARY by WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS SONNET ON SITTING DOWN TO READ KING LEAR ONCE AGAIN by JOHN KEATS TO MR.
