A WOMAN-GROWN, by VIRGINIA STAIT First Line: In grief I would have cried out yesterday Last Line: A woman -- grown. Perhaps a woman old! Subject(s): Aging; Growth; Old Age; Women | ||||||||
In grief I would have cried out yesterday, At cruel words, sword-points for my bare feet; I would have questioned with no thought's delay, With childish eyes and lips that must entreat! But this new hour -- I bandage every bruise, I put on sandals -- and I am not told -- There is so much to win and all to lose -- A woman -- grown. Perhaps a woman old! | Other Poems of Interest...OXOTA: A SHORT RUSSIAN NOVEL: CHAPTER 7 by LYN HEJINIAN ARISTOTLE TO PHYLLIS by JOHN HOLLANDER A WOMAN'S DELUSION by SUSAN HOWE JULIA TUTWILER STATE PRISON FOR WOMEN by ANDREW HUDGINS THE WOMEN ON CYTHAERON by ROBINSON JEFFERS TOMORROW by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD LADIES FOR DINNER, SAIPAN by KENNETH KOCH |
