COMPASSION SO DIVINE, by ANNE STEELE First Line: Jesus-and didst thou leave the sky Last Line: Thy righteous rule obey. Subject(s): Compassion; Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Jesus--and didst Thou leave the sky, To bear our griefs and woes? And didst Thou bleed, and groan, and die, For Thy rebellious foes? Well might the heavens with wonder view A love so strange as Thine! No thought of angels ever knew Compassion so divine! Is there a heart that will not bend To Thy divine control? Descend, O Sovereign Love, descend, And melt that stubborn soul. Oh! may our willing hearts confess Thy sweet, Thy gentle sway; Glad captives of Thy matchless grace, Thy righteous rule obey. | Other Poems of Interest...THE NONCONFORMIST'S MEMORIAL by SUSAN HOWE THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
