MY PRAYER, by DOROTHY FILSON STEWART First Line: My god, in thee I put my trust Last Line: When work on earth is done. Subject(s): Prayer | ||||||||
My God, in Thee I put my trust; My God, to Thee I cling; And when my soul is merged in grief To Thee my cares I bring. I know that Thou will help me, Lord; With Thee I have no fears For You place sunshine in my heart When life seems dark and drear. How can I thank Thee, blessed Lord, For blessings that You give? Without Thee, God, I'd stumble, fall -- My life's not all to live. Oh, God, how can I do enough To show my faith in Thee? And still Thou givest me more and more -- Thou doest so much for me. One blessing more I ask, my God, And that You'd surely give: I ask for strength, dear Lord, to help My fellowman to live. Make me, dear Lord, an instrument With which Thy work is won; And let me be with Thee, dear God, When work on earth is done. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY WIND AND WINDOW FLOWER by ROBERT FROST |
