BLIND GIRL TO A SYMPATHIZER, by
First Line: Could I not hear the suppliant whine
Last Line: And you could truly say that I am blind.
Subject(s): Blindness; Sympathy; Visually Handicapped; Empathy

Could I not hear the suppliant whine
Of this dear animal of mine,
Nor listen to the magic of a cardinal's trill!
Could I not feel the rain's caress
Or know the flower's loveliness,
Then in my darkness, sorrow I should find
And you could truly say that I am blind.
