WIND ON THE SEA, by ARTHUR WILLIAM SYMONS Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: The loneliness of the sea is in my heart Last Line: That may not wander as the wind or return as the sea. Subject(s): Sea; Wind; Ocean | ||||||||
The loneliness of the sea is in my heart, And the wind is not more lonely than this grey mind. I have thought far thoughts, I have loved, I have loved, and I find Love gone, thought weary, and I, alas, left behind. The loneliness of my heart is in the sea, And my mind is not more lonely than this grey wind. Who shall stay the feet of the sea, or bind The wings of the wind? only the feet of mankind Grow old in the place of their sorrow, and bitter is the heart That may not wander as the wind or return as the sea. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS NERVES by ARTHUR WILLIAM SYMONS |
