THE BAYOU, by EDITH TATUM First Line: All night I hear deep water flowing Last Line: Unbroken, since you went away. Subject(s): Bayous | ||||||||
All night I hear deep water flowing, The bayou as it seeks the sea. I lean from out my window, watching, Dreaming its strange mystery. And ever I hear the muted rippling Of water that never is the same; On, on, it surges, going, going To some far haven without name. My hours and days and years are passing, Like this drift-water and as gray. My life is like the bayou's flowing, Unbroken, since you went away. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AS NIGHT COMES by CHARLES G.
