THE END OF THE WAY, by RACHEL ANNAND TAYLOR Poet's Biography First Line: Much have I seen by the winding way Last Line: Jesu, I am tired. Subject(s): Beauty; Christianity; Love - Complaints | ||||||||
MUCH have I seen by the winding way; And much have I desired. What is the end of it all to-day? Jesu, I am tired! I met with Love amid the dew; At noon with Shame and Wrath; At sunset those three gibbets threw Their shadows on my path. No beauty can I bear to see. Too much have I desired. Here is a wayside Calvary! Jesu, I am tired. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TALKING RICHARD WILSON BLUES, BY RICHARD CLAY WILSON by DENIS JOHNSON THE BRIDGE by ALEXANDER ANDERSON THE RABBI'S SON-IN-LAW by SABINE BARING-GOULD MISGIVINGS by WILLIAM MATTHEWS THROUGH AGONY: 1 by CLAUDE MCKAY HEMATITE HEIRLOOM LIVES ON (MAYBE DECEMBER 1980) by ALICE NOTLEY QUICK AND BITTER by YEHUDA AMICHAI A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN TO HER LOVER by RACHEL ANNAND TAYLOR |
