WRECK OF THE TITANIC, by REGINALD M. TEWKSBURY First Line: Only an iceberg Last Line: Under moonlit sky! Subject(s): Disasters; Ships & Shipping; Shipwrecks; Titanic (ship) | ||||||||
Only an iceberg, Oh! but the woe it spread; As o'er the ocean, The bodies of brave lie dead; Fathers and mothers Torn from their lov'd ones so dear, Drifted so mutely, 'Neath the moon so clear! Refrain Oh! could those dear ones be called back again, Oh! could the story be told without pain; Heaven be merciful to those that are gone, Heroes, All brave, Ever thy loss we'll mourn. Adrift in the lifeboats, Out on the seas so drear; Wives, Mothers, Sweethearts, There mingled in throes of fear; Theirs is the sorrow, Comes to the low and the high, In home or hovel, Under moonlit sky! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AFTER THE TITANIC by DEREK MAHON THE CONVERGENCE OF THE TWAIN; LINES ON LOSS OF THE TITANIC by THOMAS HARDY DARK PROPHECY: I SING OF SHINE by ETHERIDGE KNIGHT THE TITANIC by KATHARINE LEE BATES THE TITANIC by SAMUEL VALENTINE COLE RAGTIME! by ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE THE TITANIC by HUDDIE LEDBETTER |
