HEART WOUNDS, by CLAIRE RICHCREEK THOMAS First Line: Cold steel may penetrate the flesh Last Line: The scar -- will long remain. | ||||||||
Cold steel may penetrate the flesh, The wound may throb and smart, But far more painful are the wounds Inflicted on the heart. Soothing balm may cease the pain That body-blows impart But what can heal the deep-cut wounds Inflicted on the heart? Yes -- marks upon the flesh will fade, Forgotten with the pain, But when the heart is wounded thus, The scar -- will long remain. | Other Poems of Interest...CONTRA MORTEM: THE LEAVES by HAYDEN CARRUTH IN WALKED BUD WITH A PALETTE by CLARENCE MAJOR SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: JAMES GARBER by EDGAR LEE MASTERS A WINTER NIGHT by SARA TEASDALE A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 9 by THOMAS CAMPION |
