TO A NYMPH, by GERALD W. THOMSON First Line: Just off our rented steps there is a pool Last Line: Of lawn -- a towel green he thought was grown for him. Subject(s): Lakes; Pools; Ponds | ||||||||
Just off our rented steps there is a pool which makes a summer's sunset hour cool. Long after we have moved -- to God knows where -- I'll hear dogs lapping water there, and see again that mottled beast who used this tub the least. No Erskine Goddess stepped ashore wreathed in flowers lovelier than he, to wipe his chin upon the brim of lawn -- a towel green he thought was grown for him. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A MAN GETS OFF WORK EARLY by THOMAS LUX THE FRIARY AT BLOSSOM, PROLOGUE & INSTRUCTIONS by NORMAN DUBIE SONGS FOR TWO SEASONS: 2.
