A SONG OF LIFE, by ELLIN J. TOY First Line: Bloom, easter lilies fair! Last Line: Hath made thee forever victor of death. Alternate Author Name(s): Knowles, Joseph H., Mrs. Subject(s): Easter; Holidays; The Resurrection | ||||||||
Bloom, Easter lilies fair! Out of the dust arisen, From the deep darkness under the sod Quickened to life by the touch of God, Oh! tell it abroad with your fragrant breath, Life is forever victor of death. Ring, happy Easter bells! Ring from each temple tower; Tell it again where the story is old, Tell it afar where it never was told, Oh! tell it abroad with jubilant breath, Life is forever victor of death. Sing, grateful soul of mine! Sing till they hear in heaven; Song sweeter than that of blossom or bell, For joy beyond all that angels can tell, How the Life Divine with quickening breath Hath made thee forever victor of death. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EASTER EVE by FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILLON EASTER SUNDAY by LUCILLE CLIFTON GOD SEND EASTER by LUCILLE CLIFTON NOT THE CUCKOLD'S DREAM; FOR SAM PEREIRA by NORMAN DUBIE EASTER HYMN by GEORGE SANTAYANA I DEFINE THE DARKNESS CORRECT: THE FESTIVAL OF THE FRERES LUMIERES by ELENI SIKELIANOS SPANISH EASTER: 1926 by CONRAD AIKEN UPON JULIA'S BREASTS by ROBERT HERRICK |
