SHINING COURAGE, by LUCIA TRENT First Line: Your spirit is a banner that unrolls Last Line: They cannot drive your shining courage under. Alternate Author Name(s): Cheyney, Mrs. Ralph; Glass, Mrs. Ernest Subject(s): Mooney, Thomas Joseph (1882-1942) | ||||||||
Your spirit is a banner that unrolls Before the eyes of hungry, beaten ones, Your faith a tonic that reflames the souls Of those who slave like dull automatons. You press an ominous treadmill through a maze. For you the loneliness, the bitter sighs, For us your shining words of truth that blaze Like stars from luminous rafters through the skies. We who would make our lives like gallant sparks Must dwindle into futile pricks of light, But you transcend the barren void of darks -- Your life a brave epitome of right. And though they thwart and crush, the lords of plunder, They cannot drive your shining courage under. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BREED, WOMEN, BREED by LUCIA TRENT PARADE THE NARROW TURRETS by LUCIA TRENT |
