FLOWERS FOR MY FRIEND, by
First Line: The flowers that I would give my friend
Last Line: While he can see.
Subject(s): Flowers; Friendship; Love - Loss Of

The flowers that I would give my friend
Are now aglow.
Were I to keep them till he dies
He would not know
That each rare petal speaks of me—

My love for him; my faith in him,
My constancy.
Too many wait till loved ones go
Before they show
A sentiment which reads like this:
I loved him so ...

The world may read, but oh, not he;
So I shall show my friend his flowers
While he can see.
