DUSK ON THE DESERT, by SARAH DELLA ULMER First Line: The wind sped mute among the grass Last Line: That sweep the plains at eventide. Subject(s): Deserts; Food & Eating | ||||||||
The wind sped mute among the grass That barely swayed to let it pass. It gave a sleepy little sigh Of sobbed content ... and hurried by. The hush of night had settled down On prairied panels blended brown. Their mullioned beauty splashed away Where morn began; where ended day. Like waves upon the sea they tossed, Then washed afar, by distance lost Within the shadows deep and wide That sweep the plains at eventide. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WAITRESSING IN THE ROOM WITH A THOUSAND MOONS by MATTHEA HARVEY CANDIED YAMS' by TERRANCE HAYES DINNER OF HERBS by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN THE BANQUET SONG by KENNETH KOCH SPLITTING AN ORDER by TED KOOSER DESERT FLUTES by SARAH DELLA ULMER |
